TRIP TO AFRICA.
Youth participants and donors from the U.S. join ITF projects to launch impactful fundraising campaigns supporting African initiatives. Successful campaigns offer participants the opportunity to travel abroad, engage in project implementation, and assist with administrative, skilled, or unskilled work benefiting local communities. If unavailable, the travel opportunity is extended to passionate youth from low-income U.S. communities. Participants gain hands-on experience in sustainable development, project management, and leadership while immersing in cross-cultural exchanges. The program fosters global awareness, equity, and inclusion through transformative community development efforts, complemented by cultural and safari experiences.
Collaborative Fundraising
Youth participants or donors from the U.S. join ITF projects by leading fundraising campaigns for initiatives in African branches. Successful campaigns grant participants an opportunity to travel to the project site and contribute during the implementation phase
Hands-On Project
Participants work with local ITF offices to provide administrative support and may also contribute skilled or unskilled labor to benefit the community. Their involvement bridges cultures and strengthens collaboration.
Inclusive Opportunities
If fundraising participants are unavailable for the trip, young people from low-income U.S. communities with a passion for community development are awarded the experience, fostering equity in global engagement.
Cultural Immersion
During their journey, participants engage in project setup, connect with beneficiaries, and enjoy a safari at a captivating site. This transformative experience blends cultural exchange with impactful community service

STEPS
APPLICATION
The applicant/ group leader key in required basic profile details using Trip application form available at www.itf-us.org. The applicant/ group leader will receive a response within 7 days stating whether the application was accepted or declined.
ONBOARDING
Once the application is approved, meetings will be scheduled to discuss expectations and review the project scope in detail.
PCM & WORK PLAN
Covering Introduction to planning and implementation of ITF project. At the end of the training the participant develops a SMART work plan that includes a fundraising budget (if applicable), specific objectives and how to track the progress.
FUNDRAISING
The applicant implements a fundraising plan (if applicable) as set out in the developed work plan.
PRE-TRIP ORIENTATION
A detailed trip itinerary orientation, from leaving home to getting back home. Plus, a what to expect info pack that includes Life at the hosting ITF office, project location-community and the country in general.
TRAVEL IMPLEMENTATION
As specified in the itinerary, the applicant/group members travel with the ITF volunteer staff, to kick off project activities.
POST-TRIP
The goal is to document the actual impact of the project after a period of at least 6 months but not exceeding 12 months. The applicant /group chooses one representative to return to the project location for at least one week to participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises and produce an annual project report
TYPES OF TRIPS.
INTERNSHIP-LIKE TRIP
A trip lasting 4 to 8 weeks tailored for high school, college, and university students, which is either directly sponsored or in collaboration with their educational institution. Additionally, this trip may be granted to an individual or a small group of up to four people when a project sponsor cannot travel, or when the project is funded through a grant or other unrestricted financial means.
PARTNER TRIP
This is a 3-to-7-day trip tailored for a business or organization that serves as a financial partner. Typically, we request that all grant donors send one representative from their organization to attend the project launch.
FAMILY/FRIENDS TRIP
A trip lasting 1 to 4 weeks, tailored for families or groups of friends who have successfully raised funds for a project.
FAITH-INSPIRED TRIP
This trip, lasting from 1 to 4 weeks, is tailored for faith organizations and individuals who have successfully raised funds for a project. *ITF is not a religious or faith-based organization; however, it collaborates with individuals from all faiths to promote community development without discrimination.
