DESCRIPTION
Cheptais, a ward of Mt. Elgon, has a population of over 136,035 residents. However, this area faces significant challenges related to water accessibility, primarily due to low water production levels and frequent bursts of the dilapidated water distribution networks.
In response, the International Transformation Foundation (ITF) partnered with Join the Pipe (JTP) to implement a comprehensive solution that would improve water access in the region. As part of this initiative, a modern water tap station was strategically installed in Cheptais market and continues to provide a reliable source of clean water for the local population.
Additionally, the project involved the distribution of 10,000 reusable water bottles to 16 schools throughout Cheptais. The schools included: Cheptais S.D.A, Zackstar Academy, Cherendio, Bukonoi SA, Marigo SDA, Peresten ACK, Chemekere SDA, Cheptais S.A, Kipsis S.A, Toroso S.A, Kimaswa Hill, Kimaswa S.A, Chemses ARC, and Cheptais S.A, Kipsis S.A, Toroso S.A, Kimaswa Hill, Kimaswa S.A, Chemses ARC, Bikhutu, and Kamosong. This initiative not only encourages sustainable water consumption practices but also motivates the community to actively take responsibility for managing their water resources.
